Objective vs summary

An objective says what role you are aiming for and what you offer. A summary sums up experience you already have. If you have relevant experience, a professional summary is usually the stronger choice. If you are new to work or changing fields, an objective can explain your direction.

The UK National Careers Service describes the introduction as "a few short lines that sum up who you are and what you hope to do," placed just under your contact details.

A simple formula

Who you are + 1 or 2 real strengths + the role you want. Keep it to 1 to 3 lines and name the job type from the ad.
